Fluid Acrylics, Alcohol Inks, and Encaustic

Fluid Acrylics and Alcohol Inks

Jump to encaustic

In additional to using fluid acrylics, I also work with alcohol inks. And, I’m really enjoying it. The colors are so vibrant. The alcohol ink paintings were all done on Yupo paper. The acrylic paintings are done on canvas panels or stretched canvases.

Encaustic

Encaustic paintings are created with melted bees wax and pigment on a hard surface or special type of paper. Some of the encaustic paintings were completed with clear bees wax and mixed media (i.e. hard pastels, oil pastels, paint, etc.) while others were finished with entirely pigmented bees wax. A few are comprised of a combination of pigmented bees wax, clear bees wax, and mixed media. Encaustic is a really unique form of art and takes a lot of time and special tools due to the melted wax.
